Hey guys,
So, today is the first day of Women’s History Month! To be completely honest I had no idea that this was a thing! Being that I am a woman I thought I would tell the history of this celebration. Women’s History month came from an essay contest in the school district of Sanoma, California. The students were having a week-long celebration of women’s contributions to society. This was in 1978, and the students would have presentations for that entire week and a parade was held in Santa Rosa. From there the celebration became a national celebration and in 1980 President Jimmy Carter would issue the first presidential proclamation declaring the week of March 8 as National Women’s History Week! Not long after Congress established this as a national celebration. From there, a petition was made to expand the week to the entire month!

As an American woman, I am proud to be part of such a great heritage of women who have contributed so much to history and culture. I think that so often we forget many of the women throughout history who have made great contributions to the world. Here is a shortlist of women who have made great contributions to society: Jane Goodall, Florence Nightingale, Anna Freud (daughter of Sigmund Freud), Chien Shiung Wu, and Harriet Tubman. As I said, this is just a tiny list of major women who have contributed so much to our world and need to be remembered in history. I did not name what these great women accomplished in hopes that you will look up these amazing women and see all of their contributions! Many people already know some of the names of these women and know some of their contributions but I made sure to put a couple of names that many people would not recognize. So, go give them a search and make sure to show the women in your life some love and appreciation this month!

This post is a bit shorter than most of my posts! I am looking into some different types of content and have not been able to focus as much on my blog as I would like to. My hope is that I will also be starting a podcast soon as well! More information to come!
As Always, Be Strong and Courageous
